Welcome to the heart of ravishing natural landscapes: from the brooks and rivers of mountain villages to natural reserves with their hidden gems, from gorges and magical waterfalls to the most beautiful lakes and forest trails, the dream is here, everywhere.
Also on the fun itinerary: ibexes, marmots and vultures, with the beauty of the mountain always in the background.
Meet in Servoz, a mountain village and gateway to the valley of Chamonix, made famous by the novel “First on the Rope”. Unmatched, the hike in the pastures of Pormenaz offers divine views of Mont Blanc, culminating in the homonymous lake and its magical reflections. An alternative to dream: the natural reserve of Carlaveyron and its glacier amphitheatre, natural paradise of lakes, marshes and peat bogs.
Welcome to the small mountain resort of Mont-Saxonnex, located at the foot of the Bargy cliffs. A starting point for hikes with magical brooks, wild and magical gorges (follow the Bronze gorges) and heavenly waterfalls (Dard, hidden in the forest, deserves a detour). The most athletic hikers continue on the Massif of Bargy, the land of the bearded vulture.
Meet at Petit-Bornand, and leave for the Plateau des Glières. A valley perched at an altitude of 1450 m, framed by the Auges mountains, the peaks of the Ovines and the Frêtes mountain. A graded trail for eager hikers who will find here forest paths, pastures, waterfalls and rivers. Not to be missed: Lac de Lessy, in the commune of Petit-Bornand, for a discovery of the Aravis range with marmots and ibexes as fellow hikers.
Surrounded by mountain ranges, this village is an ideal starting point for the mid-mountain hike. Choose from a serene walk on the heights of Thônes to cross the vast plateau of high pastures of Beauregard; the ascent of the Tournette, on the edge of the Bornes massif, to admire all the peaks above Lake Annecy and Lake Annecy for its stunning beauty.
Very close to Lake Annecy, the resort of Faverges, within the Bauges Regional Natural Park, offers hikes with views over the surrounding mountains. Our favourites: the ascent of the Dent de Cons with parts on grassy slopes and ridge, and that of the summit of Chaurionde, which peaks at over 2,000 m and frames the pasture of Orgeval.
sT NICOLAS DE VEROCE
Follow the route to St Nicolas de Véroce, a charming village located between Saint-Gervais and Contamines. For the sake of adventure, try a paragliding session or a hike on Mont Joly. An observatory perched at an altitude of 2,500 m to admire the Mont Blanc massif or the Aravis Range. Starting from St Nicolas again, the loop of the Plan de la Croix offers a drop accessible to beginners.
Back to Chamonix for the last day and night. Recommended van parking at Le Planet, a quiet, green area. And a recommended hike to the Plan de l’Aiguille du Midi, for a last series of astonishing views of Mont Blanc.
Alternative route 4 days / 4 nights
